Pune RTO Deploys AI-Powered Radar Vehicles to Catch Traffic Violations
Pune, 31st August 2025: Pune’s Road Transport Office (RTO) is stepping up traffic enforcement with the deployment of four advanced AI-enabled interceptor vehicles. Equipped with radar technology under the Mobile Tracking Enforcement System (MTES), these vehicles can automatically identify traffic violations, generate e-challans on the spot, and ensure law enforcement even in low-visibility conditions such as fog or night-time.
Unlike conventional traffic monitoring systems that typically detect 10–12 violations per hour, the new radar-equipped interceptors can process as many as 800–900 violations every hour, vastly improving the city’s capacity to manage traffic and discourage dangerous driving.
Officials said this technological upgrade will not only strengthen traffic regulation but also help create safer roads for commuters across Pune.
