Cervical cancer continues to pose a significant and growing public health challenge in India. It remains the second most common cancer among Indian women, with an estimated over 1.2 lakh new cases diagnosed annually and nearly 75,000 deaths each year. Alarmingly, a large proportion of these cases are detected at advanced stages due to lack of awareness, irregular screening, and persistent social stigma surrounding gynaecological health. While many developed nations have significantly reduced incidence through systematic HPV vaccination and screening programs, India still faces gaps in preventive outreach making urgent awareness and early intervention critical.
By associating with TIGHI, Ruby Hall Clinic aims to strengthen its positioning as a proactive advocate of preventive healthcare rather than reactive treatment. The hospital emphasizes that cervical cancer can be effectively prevented through timely HPV vaccination and regular Pap smear screening.
As part of this commitment beyond awareness, Ruby Hall Clinic has also announced a one-week subsidised cervical cancer vaccination initiative in schools, making preventive care more accessible to young girls and supporting parents in safeguarding their children’s future health. This initiative underlines the hospital’s belief that awareness must be accompanied by tangible community outreach.
Dr. Purvez Grant Chief Cardiologist, Chairman and Managing Trustee of Ruby Hall Clinic, stated:
“At Ruby Hall Clinic, we strongly believe that healthcare institutions must go beyond treatment and actively participate in prevention and awareness. Supporting a film like TIGHI aligns with our vision of empowering women with knowledge and access. When hospitals collaborate with platforms like cinema, we can influence behaviour at scale. Cervical cancer is preventable, and through awareness, vaccination drives, and regular screening initiatives, we aim to ensure that women take proactive steps toward safeguarding their health.”
The collaboration reflects a larger vision to ensure that women across India prioritise their health without hesitation. Films like TIGHI help bridge the gap between medical science and societal understanding, empowering women to seek early screening, embrace vaccination, and make informed health decisions.
Ruby Hall Clinic remains dedicated to advancing women’s healthcare through education, early detection, and accessible preventive services because when detected early, cervical cancer is not just treatable, it is preventable.
