Pune Ruby Hall Clinic Kidney Racket: State Inquiry Committee Cross-Examines Sassoon Hospital’s Transplant Committee

Pune, 12th April 2022: The Maharashtra state inquiry committee cross-examined the kidney transplant committee from Sassoon hospital in connection with the alleged kidney racket reported at Ruby Hall Clinic. The Sassoon Hospital committee had verified and given consent for the transplant.
A woman from Kolhapur whose kidney was transplanted has alleged that she was promised Rs 15 lakh in lieu of the kidney. She has lodged a complaint with Koregaon Park police station, Pune city police. The incident came to light when she was not given the promised amount.
After the complaint, the state health department issued the concerned hospital with a show-cause notice and asked it to submit a reply within 24 hours. The hospital in its reply said that they are not guilty in this case and the transplant committee is responsible for verifying of documents.
The state government appointed an inquiry committee under the chairmanship of a deputy health director of Maharashtra University of Health Sciences, Nashik.
The committee on Friday, 8th April checked the related documents, inquired about the relationship between the donor and the patient and also cross-examined the transplant committee members from Sassoon hospital.
