Nashik, 25th March 2026: An initiative aimed at improving menstrual hygiene access among schoolgirls in tribal areas of Nashik district has been launched across 10 schools, enabling adolescent girls to access sanitary hygiene solutions and awareness programmes.

The initiative, called Sangini, is led by the Netarhat Old Boys Association Global Social Responsibility (NOBA GSR). Under the programme, sanitary pad vending machines and eco-friendly incinerators have been installed in the selected schools. Awareness sessions on menstrual health are also being conducted to help reduce stigma and encourage girls to continue attending school during menstruation.

The deployment in Nashik has been supported by Haosen Automation India Pvt. Ltd., Pune, as part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiatives.

Organisers said the programme aims to address key challenges faced by girls in rural and tribal areas, including lack of access to sanitary products, health risks caused by unhygienic practices, and school absenteeism linked to menstruation. The Sangini initiative seeks to tackle these issues through a combination of access to hygiene products, affordability, and awareness.

Speaking about the initiative, Nandkumar Wandre, Director and General Manager of Haosen Automation India Pvt. Ltd., said the company believes engineering and industry can contribute to social change beyond business operations. He added that supporting the Sangini initiative aligns with the company’s commitment to making a positive impact in communities and improving access to menstrual hygiene solutions for schoolgirls in Nashik district.

The Sangini initiative is currently operational in more than 725 schools across India and has benefited over 2.5 lakh girls by providing safe and affordable menstrual hygiene solutions. The expansion into tribal schools in Nashik is part of ongoing efforts to extend the programme to underserved regions.

The initiative was implemented with support from the Cerebral Palsy Association of India (CPAI), Mumbai, which assisted in identifying beneficiary schools in the Nashik district.

NOBA GSR is a not-for-profit organisation working to empower rural and underserved communities across India through programmes in health, education, agriculture, and social development.
