Pune: Sassoon Hospital NICU brings 12,000 infants to life

Pune, 7th May 2022: “Dedicated efforts by sisters, staff, and doctors have succeeded in bringing 12000 infants to life in the last five years. This neonatal unit is consistently working for the betterment of neonatal lives. Nothing can match the joy of rebirth of an infant on the face of the mother. It works as the driving force for us.” said Dr. Vinayak Kale, Dean – Sassoon General Hospital.

 

Dr. Kale said, “The NICU is a place for rebirth, hence it is a holy place. Former Dean Dr. Ajay Chandanwale led this initiative that was fulfilled with the help of Finolex Industries and its CSR partner Mukul Madhav Foundation and Dagdusheth Halwai Trust.”

 

Dr. Aarti Kinikar said, “Any good thing can be bettered with teamwork. With 70 alert and sensible staff along with 59 beds, this is the best ever NICU in the country. The state government has appreciated this unit as the best unit in the state.”

 

This NICU unit was established in 2017 with the help of Finolex Industries and their CSR partner Mukul Madhav Foundation. On the fifth anniversary of this unit, many parents visited the center along with their children.

 

Ritu Prakash Chhabria, Managing Trustee of Mukul Madhav Foundation said, “Finolex and Mukul Madhav Foundation are working consistently to improve community health. This NICU is a success story having the involvement of all its stakeholders. Collaborating with similar organizations we have established an Eye clinic, Dental laser unit. Sassoon is the first-ever government hospital to have such a laser unit. More than 1,500 patients have benefited through this with more than 50 patients having successful dental implants. Along with these emergency trolley beds, beds having bedspreads, blankets with pillows, Solapur chaddar, and many other utilities were donated to Sassoon Hospital. We have also established a liver transplant unit. Sassoon is the first-ever government hospital having such a facility.”

 

Dr. Ajay Taware, Dr. Vijay Jadhav, Dr. Aarti Kinikar – HOD, Pushpa Marked, Yasmin Shaikh representing Mukul Madhav Foundation, and Jitendra Jadhav were present on this occasion. All doctors and nurses from the NICU organized the program. The parents were felicitated by Sassoon Hospital.
