Pune: Sassoon Hospital Staff Caught Accepting Bribe For Helping Get Medical Bill Sanctioned

Pune, 27th December 2023: In a significant development, the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) in Pune has unveiled a case of corruption involving a public servant at Sassoon Hospital.

The complainant, a 57-year-old male, filed a report against Jalinder Chandrakant Kumbhar, a 55-year-old liftman (Class-4) at the Office of Deputy Superintendent, Sassoon Hospital, Pune.

The accused, Kumbhar, allegedly demanded a bribe, two percent of the medical bill submitted by the complainant on 1st June 2023. The bill, amounting to Rs 1,43,000, required authorization from the Deputy Superintendent’s Office, where Kumbhar is employed.

The Anti-Corruption Bureau conducted thorough verification on the dates 29/11/2023, 30/11/2023, 18/12/2023, and 19/12/2023. During this period, Kumbhar persistently demanded the bribe of Rs 3,000, which was ultimately accepted.

A trap was set near the main entrance of Sassoon Hospital today and Kumbhar was caught. An FIR has been registered against him at Bundgarden police station for offences under relevant sections of the
Prevention of Corruption Act.
