Pune: School Teacher Seeks Donation For Mucormycosis Treatment

Pune, 26th May 20121: Pushkraj Dandekar, a school teacher from Satara, has asked for monetary help for his treatment. He is suffering from Mucormycosis after recovery from Coronavirus disease (COVID19).
According to doctors, the expenses for his treatment was estimated to be Rs 8 to 10 Lakhs including surgery and medication.
Pushkraj being a school teacher, with a meagre salary is unable to afford such a huge treatment. Thus, he has sought help through the online crowdfunding platform ‘Milaap‘ for help. Milaap is a free crowdfunding website in India, which helps people raise funds for medical emergencies and social causes.
Last week Pushkraj started having difficulty seeing things. He consulted a local doctor at Satara for his treatment where he was asked to get an MRI test. After testing both eyes, doctors suspected something amiss and referred him to Pune’s Ruby Hall Clinic immediately for further treatment.
After a thorough investigation by a team of doctors including an ENT surgeon, an Ophthalmologist, ICU consultant in Ruby Hall Clinic, Pushkraj was detected with Mucormycosis and was admitted to the hospital. He could not be admitted to Sassoon Hospital due to a huge waiting list of patients for surgeries.
Earlier, on 13th May Pushkraj caught fever and cold and went to a COVID centre in Satara to get tested for COVID. The results were positive and the symptoms were high, he was administered a steroid dose.
Pushkraj’s treatment is under process, even after receiving a donation of Rs 24,410, he needs a huge sum of money to cure Mucormycosis.
