Pune : School Transport Vehicles On RTO Radar, Special Drive To Be Conducted
Pune 6th Sept 2023: The Regional Transport Office (RTO) has planned an action against the vehicles used for the transport of children to schools. A special driver will be carried out by the RTO Pune to identify and take action against the illegally operated vehicles in the city. The RTO officials will check mini-buses, vans and auto rickshaws being used for the school transport.
A total of 5,000 such vehicles will be checked by the RTO officials under this drive and a total of four teams have been given the task, said officials. The decision has been taken after the officials have come across some vehicles that are not registered as ‘school cabs’ being used for the school transport. Besides, such vehicles are also found ferrying more students than permitted. The RTO has received several complaints in this regard in the last few days.
The RTO officials have urged the vehicle owners to follow the norms and get their vehicle’s fitness certificate before using it to transport the students. Besides, the officials have also warned of action against the vehicles found violating the norms.
