Pune: Schoolgirl From Mumbai Among Two Persons Drowned In Pavana Dam, 5 Persons Rescued

Lonavala, 2nd September 2022: A 13-year-old schoolgirl from Mumbai died after drowning in Pavana Dam. Seven people, who got into the water, drowned because they did not estimate the depth of the water. Five of them were saved.

The individuals were identified as Arya Deepak Jain (age 13), Sameer Kuldeep Saxena (age 43), Payal Sameer Saxena (age 42), Lakshya Saxena (age 14), Yash Saxena (age 8), Adi Chugani (age 14), and Ansh Suri (age 14). The Saxena family is a resident of the Prabhadevi area in Mumbai.

 

The Saxena family and their children’s friends came to the Pavana Dam area for sightseeing. The tourists entered the water of the dam near Phangane village. As the depth of water was not estimated at that time, all of them drowned.

Police constables Rafeeq Shaikh and Vijay Gale of the Pavananagar outpost received information that seven people had drowned. After that, the police rushed to the spot. Relief work began immediately with the help of locals. All the members were pulled out of the water. Arya Jain and Sameer Saxena died before treatment, Lonavala Rural Police has informed.
