Pune: Scooter Crushed by Overturned Concrete Mixer in Hinjawadi; Two Women Killed, Driver Detained

Hinjawadi, 24th January 2025: Two young women lost their lives in a road accident in Pune’s Hinjawadi today afternoon. The victims, both 21-year-old private sector employees, were returning home from work when the incident occurred.
The accident took place around 4 PM on Maan-Hinjawadi Road when a concrete mixer truck, while attempting a sharp turn, lost balance and overturned. The truck fell onto the Suzuki Access scooter the women were riding, killing them instantly.
The deceased have been identified as Pranjali Yadav and Ashlesha Gawande, both residents of Pune. The truck driver, a 22-year-old resident of Latur, has been arrested by Hinjawadi Police.
Senior Police Inspector Kanhaiya Thorat, in charge of Hinjawadi Police Station, provided details of the incident to Punekar News. He stated that the relatives of the victims had arrived at the police station to file a complaint.
The truck driver sustained minor injuries and is in stable condition. The accident caused traffic congestion in the area, which was cleared after a crane was used to remove the overturned truck.
Hinjawadi Police are in the process of registering a case based on the complaint filed by the victims’ relatives, Senior Inspector Thorat added.
After the accident, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 2) Vishal Gaikwad, Assistant Commissioner of Police (Wakad Division) Sunil Kurade, and Senior Police Inspector Kanhaiya Thorat, along with officials from the Hinjawadi Police Station and Hinjawadi Traffic Division, were present.
