Pune, 14th August 2025: The Software Exporters Association of Pune (SEAP) has urged the Maharashtra government to adopt a series of strategic measures aimed at strengthening the state’s IT and IT-enabled Services (ITeS) sector. In a formal letter addressed to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, SEAP outlined six major recommendations to enhance competitiveness, attract investments, and generate significant employment in Maharashtra.

Highlighting Pune’s established role as a leading IT hub in India, SEAP proposed the creation of a separate IT/ITeS Ministry dedicated to fostering business growth and positioning the state as a global IT leader. The association also suggested the establishment of a Nodal Agency for the IT Industry to maintain updated databases, promote Brand Pune/Brand Maharashtra internationally, and organize technology events.

Among its other recommendations, SEAP called for strengthening IT policy implementation through public-private partnerships (PPP), the introduction of a single-window system for incentives, and the formation of a special task force for ease of doing business. The latter would involve coordination between central and state government agencies, local bodies, and industry associations to address operational challenges efficiently.

Additionally, the association proposed creating an infrastructure fund for IT hubs to improve roads, public transport, utilities, and civic amenities. It also advocated classifying IT as a “Green Industry” with long-term regulatory validity, streamlined compliance processes, and online monitoring of software technology parks.

SEAP Secretary Vidyadhar Purandare emphasized that implementing these measures would not only bolster the IT sector but also significantly enhance the state’s employment potential and attract global investments.
