Pune: Sedition Charge Against PFI; Action Against Illegal Mathadi Activities Soon: Devendra Fadnavis

Pune 25th September 2022: Deputy Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis today said that a sedition charge has been invoked against members of the Popular Front of India (PFI) after Pro-Pakistan slogans were raised during protest in Pune. He also informed that in the coming days action against illegal mathadi workers will be taken.

Fadnavis was speaking at the annual day function of the Maratha chamber of commerce and industries (MCCIA).

MCCIA president Sudhir Mehta during his address raised the issue of Mathadi menace which is hampering the industrial growth of Pune district. Reacting to this Fadnavis assured of strict action against Mathadi workers in the next few days.

“I know that many political people are involved in illegal Mathadi activities. However nobody will be spared. I will not speak much on this but you will see the action soon”, Fadnavis added.

During interaction with media persons when asked about the ‘Pakistan zindabad’ slogans raised at protests called by PFI on Friday, he said that a thorough investigation is going on and action will be taken based on the findings. At the same time he said that he has instructed the Pune police commissioner to invoke sedition charges in the case.
