Pune: Senior Citizen Dies in Hit-and-Run Incident in Baner

Baner, 8th May 2024: In Pune, a senior citizen has died after being hit by a two-wheeler. The rider didn’t stop and fled the scene, leaving the victim unattended. The incident occurred on Tuesday (8th May) at 11:30 AM on Pan Card Club Road in Baner.

Avinash Joshi, aged 59 and a resident of Dhayari, complained to the Chaturshringi Police Station. The deceased has been identified as Mukund Mohanrao Joshi, aged 69 and a resident of Baner. Chaturshringi police have registered a case against an unknown two-wheeler rider.

On the morning of Tuesday, the complainant’s brother, Mukund Joshi, was traveling on Pan Card Club Road in Baner. At that time, a two-wheeler rider, driving recklessly and not adhering to traffic regulations, collided with Mukund Joshi, inflicting serious injuries that led to his death. The unidentified two-wheeler rider did not stop and notify the police.

In response, the Chaturshringi police have registered a case against the unknown two-wheeler rider under IPC Sections 279 (rash driving or riding on a public way) and 304 (A) (causing death by negligence), along with relevant sections of the Motor Vehicles Act of 1988. Assistant Police Inspector Zarekar from Chaturshringi Police Station is investigating this matter further.
