Karve Nagar, October 8, 2020: In an unexpected incident, an elderly man was allegedly robbed in Karvenagar area on Wednesday noon by a man who posed as an Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) officer.

According to police officials, Ramchandra Kulkarni (77) came to check the repair work of his bungalow located in Karvenagar. After finishing off work, Kulkarni was strolling towards his home, where three strangers stopped him in front of Madhu Sanchay Ganapati temple and said, “We are from ACB, aren’t you aware that you aren’t supposed to roam wearing gold around here”.

Kulkarni was instructed to remove his gold chain, ring and his watch as well. The accused then put all his belongings in a handkerchief, gave the cloth to him and ordered Kulkarni to go. However, after walking for some distance, Kulkarni noticed that the handkerchief only had a watch inside and that he had been deceived. The total worth of ornaments is Rs 40,000, informed a police official.

Upon realising that he has been robbed, Kulkarni lodged a case with Alankar Police station where further investigation is going on.
