Pune, 15th October 2022: An incident of theft of Rs 50,000 from the bank account of a senior citizen has come to light. Reportedly, the thief threatened the senior citizens with the excuse of a power cut. A senior citizen has filed a complaint at the Khadki police station.

The thief contacted the mobile number of the complainant and pretended to be speaking from Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL). He said that the complainant has a pending electricity bill. The thief asked the senior citizen to download the TeamViewer app, pretending that the electricity would be cut off if the bill was not revised. Believing the thief’s claim, the senior citizen downloaded the TeamViewer app through the link.

After downloading the app, the thief took the confidential information of the senior citizen’s bank account. By misusing this information, the thief withdrew Rs 50,999 from the bank account of the senior citizen.
