Pune: Senior Clerk At Sassoon Hospital Arrested In Bribery Case By ACB

Pune, 10th August 2023: Officials from the Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) have arrested a senior clerk employed at the Maharashtra state government-operated Sassoon Hospital on charges of alleged bribery.
A formal complaint was registered by a government employee with the Pune unit of the ACB.

As per official reports, the complainant had submitted medical bills totaling Rs 1.07 lakh for approval. Allegedly, the senior clerk demanded a bribe of Rs 3000 to overlook ‘potential objections’. Subsequently, negotiations led to the amount being lowered to Rs 2500.

The complainant, with no intention of succumbing to bribery, promptly approached the ACB. Acting upon the verified complaint, ACB officials apprehended the clerk in the act today.

An FIR has been officially filed at the Bundgarden police station against the implicated senior clerk, Ganesh Suresh Gaikwad, who held a position within the medical superintendent’s office at Sassoon Hospital. Gaikwad now faces charges under the Prevention of Corruption Act. Further investigations are being conducted by Police Inspector Vidulata Chavan.
