Pune: Separate Electricity Offices for Kondhwa and Yewalewadi Approved Amid Growing Public Demand
Kondhwa, 28th July 2025: Responding to the rising population and mounting electricity-related complaints in Kondhwa and Yewalewadi, the Maharashtra State Electricity Distribution Company Limited (MSEDCL) has approved the establishment of two separate electricity offices for these areas. The move is aimed at improving administrative efficiency and addressing local power issues more effectively.
The MSEDCL has issued an official order to divide the existing Kondhwa branch and create separate offices for Kondhwa and Yewalewadi. This long-pending demand was raised by MLC Yogesh Tilekar during the recent session of the state legislature.
Tilekar had urged the government to ease the burden on the Rasta Peth and St. Mary’s sub-divisions by creating three new electricity offices under the Kondhwa branch. Acting on his proposal, Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis had announced the plan to establish dedicated electricity offices for Kondhwa and Yewalewadi during the session.
Following this announcement, MSEDCL has taken swift action. A total of 19 posts have been sanctioned for the newly formed Yewalewadi branch office. Of these, nine posts will be transferred from the Kondhwa branch, and 10 positions will be filled through new recruitment.
The administrative approval letter for this restructuring was issued under the directive of Bhushan Kulkarni, Chief General Manager of MSEDCL. The move is expected to streamline operations and bring faster resolution to electricity-related issues in both rapidly growing localities.
Residents and local representatives have welcomed the decision, calling it a step forward in ensuring efficient power distribution and service delivery in the region.
