Pune : Seven members of a family found Coronavirus Positive in Khadki, Bazaar area sealed for three days

Khadk (Pune), 17 April 2020:  Today six more persons of a family have tested positive for Coronavirus  in Khadki Cantonment Board (KCB) area. One family member was found positive yesterday. Totally seven members of the family from a locality in Khadki Bazaar have tested positive for COVID19 till now. One patient from same area was found positive in the first week of April and with this there are total eight positive patients from Khadki now.

“One of the person approached the Cantonment Board’s  Dr Babasaheb Ambedkar Cantonment Hospital, Khadki, on 7 April suffering from cold and cough. Meanwhile the patient also visited DY Patil Hospital for the same treatment. The same patient was referred to Aundh Hospital for COVID test and on 16 April his sample was found to positive”, said an official from KCB.

Accordingly, team of doctors from the Pune district administration had visited the cantonment hospital on 16 April and advised the Resident Medical Officer (RMO), KCB to take the samples of family members and to keep them in quarantine in the Cantonment Hospital till the receipt of the reports. Accordingly, eight family members were taken to the Cantonment Hospital yesterday for taking samples

“Today, out of eight samples of the above family members six samples have been tested positive for COVID19. Remaining two family members have been asked stay in home quarantine. The family does not have any travel history outside Pune district.

As per instructions of State Government doctors Khadki Cantonment is collecting samples of swab of other residents of the area and which shall be sent to lab for testing. The area has been sealed as per protocol. The concerned house has been sealed. Local Police has been suitably advised to control the crowd and ground situation considering the said area as Hotspot. Sanitization of the entire area is taken up on priority and door to door survey has been started”, the officer added.

Khadki Cantonment Board (KCB) CEO Pramod Kumar Singh told Punekarnews.in that, “We have announced three  days complete shutdown from 17-19 April as a precautionary measures in Khadki Bazaar. Only medical and milk shops will remain open beside the petrol pump.”

Meanwhile, the temporary vegetable market near ACP office along the old Mumbai-Pune Highway will be closed as it falls within 3 km radius of Patil Estate, Wakdewadi, where some people have tested positive for COVID19.
