Pune: Seven-Year-Old Boy Killed in Leopard Attack in Junnar
Narayangaon, 25th September 2025: A tragic incident occurred in Kumshet village, Junnar taluka of Pune district, when a seven-year-old boy, Siddharth Praveen Kedar, was killed in a leopard attack on Wednesday. The villagers and the boy’s family expressed anger over the incident and opposed handing over the body to the forest department officials.
According to local residents, Siddharth was sitting outside his house studying when a leopard suddenly attacked him. Despite attempts by nearby people to intervene, the animal carried the boy away. Villagers and family members immediately began searching for him and informed the forest authorities.
When forest department officials arrived at the scene, the local community resisted handing over Siddharth’s body, demanding accountability and action to address the recurring threat of leopard attacks in the area. Villagers reportedly demanded a written assurance from authorities regarding measures to prevent such incidents in the future.
The incident has sparked concern among residents about the increasing encounters with wild animals and the need for stronger safety measures in areas adjacent to forested regions.
