Pune: Sewage Leakage At Mujumdar Wada; Inspection To Be Conducted On May 8
Kasba Peth, 7th May 2023: The historical Sardar Abasaheb Mujumdar Wada in Kasba Peth is facing danger due to sewage leakage. Dirty water from the neighboring building has been seeping into the Wada since last year, due to which the bad smell is causing danger to the building as well. Anupama Mujumdar said that despite complaining to the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) from time to time, they are not getting any response.
Mujumdar said that the Municipal Corporation has given it the status of ‘Historical Place’. She informed that for a year, the sewage from the neighboring building is leaking into Mujumdar Wada. In this regard, a letter has been written from the Vishrambaug Wada Ward Office to the Municipal Commissioner and directly to the Chief Minister. However, no action has been taken.
“The municipal corporation did not take necessary measures to prevent the leakage from the neighboring building. Building Design Office and Heritage Management Department have also been followed up in this regard, but there is still no solution in this matter. The problem of health has also become serious due to sewage,” she added further.
Suhas Jadhav, Assistant Commissioner, Kasba Vishrambaug Ward Office said, “An inspection will be conducted on Monday (8th May) to understand the exact problem of sewage coming into Mujumdar Wada. A permanent solution will be worked out there.”
Krushna Awaghade, Health Inspector stated that in the society adjacent to Mujumdar Wada, water is leaking due to the bursting of the drainage chamber. “Notices have been given to the society twice in this regard. But since the society does not have a chamber, no one takes responsibility. Now the third notice will be issued. Failure to do so will result in a lawsuit,” he added further.
