Pune: Shirur Road Mishap Claims Three Lives, Truck Driver Suspected To Be Drunk

Shirur, 6th January 2025: Two schoolboys and their father died in a road accident this morning at 10 AM on the Chakan-Shikrapur Road in Pune District. Citizens caught the truck driver and handed him over to the police, suspecting he was drunk.

The deceased were identified as Ganesh Khedkar and his sons, Tanmay and Shivam. Tanmay was in 3rd grade, while Shivam was in 2nd grade. According to the police, Ganesh Khedkar was riding a two-wheeler with his sons when a speeding truck carrying fodder hit them near Pimple Jagtap village. The impact killed all three on the spot.

Villagers rushed to the scene after the accident, apprehended the truck driver, and handed him over to the Shikrapur police. Sub-Divisional Police Officer Prashant Dhole also visited the spot.

The police have taken the truck driver into custody, and a case is being registered against him. While villagers allege that the driver was drunk, the police stated that a medical examination would confirm his condition. The tragic incident has left the village in mourning.
