Pune: Shotgun Trap Shooting – Rajvinder Wins Gold

Pune, 15th August 2023: A resident of Pune – with an overall score of 52 – Rajvindra Dhami won the Gold in the Masters category in the Shotgun Trap Shooting at the Shotgun Indian Open Competition (SIOC) held between 11th to 16th August at Bhopal.

More than 130 top shotgun shooters from India participated in the SIOC competition. This tournament is a build up to the forthcoming Shotgun National Tournament.

Rajvinder as part of his preparations for this tournament practised at the Vikram Kakade Shotgun range at Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex – Balewadi – Pune.

Rajvinder has been an avid sportsperson since his school days. He was part of the Senior Hockey team at Loyola High school in Pune and later went on to play Hockey for the club – Kids11.

Rajvinder who became a renowned in Shotgun – Trap shooting post qualifying in the Nationals Competition held in November 2022 is being trained by – Coach Bhushan Musale. Bhushan – who himself is the highest score holder in Trap Shooting amongst all players in Maharashtra State at National Level – is based out of Pune.

Shotgun shooting – though not a new sport in India is still in its nascent stage in Maharashtra. The Shotgun range at Balewadi is the only range approved by Maharashtra Rifle Association. It has Players all over Maharashtra being attracted there to learn and hone their shotgun shooting skills.
