Pune, November 27, 2023: The Sikh Helpline Foundation commemorated the 554th Guru Nanak Jayanti with a remarkable green initiative held at the Gurdwara Guru Nanak Darbar in Pune Camp. Embracing the teachings of Guru Nanak, the foundation orchestrated a poignant celebration centered around environmental consciousness.

Under the theme resonating Guru Nanak’s words – “Pawan Guru, Pani Pita, Mata Dharta Mahata” (Air is Guru, Water is our Father, and Earth is our Mother), the foundation, led by visionary founder Raj Singh, distributed one thousand plants to the community. Each plant, particularly the Jade plant symbolizing prosperity and suitable for indoor cultivation, was handed out with the intent to inspire eco-friendly practices among attendees.

Raj Singh expressed the foundation’s unwavering commitment to instilling green initiatives within the community. Notably, a total of 1469 plants were distributed, aligning with the birth year of Guru Nanak Dev Ji.

One community member, Mr. Ravinder Singh, shared his perspective, acknowledging, “Having this Jade plant on my side table will serve as a constant reminder for us to embrace eco-friendly initiatives.”

The event attracted enthusiastic participation from attendees who visited the gurdwara to engage in the environmental initiative. Those displaying a profound understanding of Guru Nanak’s principles were gifted plants, drawing the interest of more passersby.
