Pune: Sinhagad Road Police Bust Burglary Ring, Apprehend Two Suspects

Pune, 28th October 2023: The Sinhagad Road police have arrested two individuals involved in thefts and housebreaks within their jurisdiction.

Following a complaint filed on October 18 at the Sinhagad Road police station, detailing a house burglary occurring between 11:30 p.m. and 4:00 a.m., where the unidentified culprits made off with gold ornaments, mobile phones, and cash amounting to Rs 1,07,800.

Acting promptly, Sinhagad Road police personnel initiated technical analysis and scrutinized CCTV footage of the vicinity. During the investigation, constables Sagar Shedge and Deva Chavan received a tip-off about suspects involved in mobile theft near Vision Cricket Academy, Daulatnagar, Anandnagar. The information indicated that the culprits would be near Navle Bridge service road on a blue scooter to sell stolen mobile phones, with one wearing a white shirt and black jeans, and the other in white pants and a black shirt. Responding to this lead, the police set a trap at the Navle Bridge area, successfully apprehending the suspects around 6:30 p.m. on October 23.

Identified as Shivraj Ganesh Sakhare (19, resident of Shivaji Apartment, Ambegaon Pathar) and Shivam Dnyaneshwar Surwase (19, resident of Shubh Shree Angan, Ambegaon Pathar), the accused, upon further investigation, were found to have accomplices, including two juveniles. The police made additional arrests around 9:00 p.m. on October 23.

Subsequent inquiries revealed the accused’s involvement in the housebreak case, registered under sections 394, 341, 352, 506, and 34 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), and sections 37(1)135 of the Maharashtra Police Act at the Sinhagad Road police station.

Recovered stolen goods worth Rs 1,48,000 and currently under investigation by Assistant Police Inspector Sachin Nikam.
