Pune: Six Reputed Schools in Mulshi Taluka Amongst Those Declared Unauthorised by Education Department
Pune, 25th April 2023: Amidst the blooming flowers and chirping birds, a dark cloud looms over several reputed schools in Pune. Maharashtra State School Education Department has declared these institutions unauthorized, sending shockwaves through the community. As the academic year approaches, parents must now frantically search for alternative options to educate their children.
This decisive action by the department comes as part of its ongoing efforts to combat illegal and bogus schools. Criminal cases have been filed against the offending schools, and they have been fined an exorbitant sum of Rs 1 lakh each. This blow will surely cripple the institutions, making it impossible for them to continue their illicit operations.
The brunt of this crackdown has fallen on six schools in Mulshi taluka. G G International School at Bavdhan Budruk, SNBP International School, Sanskar Primary School at Pirangut, Elite International School, Periwinkle English Medium School, and Sai Balaji Public School at Nere Dattawadi have all been included in the list of unapproved schools.
In order to operate legally, schools must have the approval of the Central or state government and obtain a no-objection certificate (NOC) from various boards, including SSC, CBSE, ICSE, among others. Since these schools do not possess the necessary NOCs and other requisite documents, the education department has taken this punitive measure against them.
Furthermore, the four schools that have been slapped with the hefty fine must deposit the sum within seven days, failing which they will be charged a staggering Rs 10,000 per day. The group education officer, Pune, Kisan Bhujbal, has affirmed that the recovery of the fine from the offending schools has already begun.
Bhujbal has also revealed that a criminal case has been registered against the management of SNBP International School. This school was started in the name of Subhadra D K Education Society at Bavdhan Budruk but was not authorized by the state government. Meanwhile, the Sai Balaji Public School has been running illegally at Dattawadi Nere in Mulshi Taluka through the Sai Balaji Education Society at Koregaon Park.
