Pune: Six Roads in Hinjewadi IT Corridor to Get Development Push; Work From Dec 1

Pune, 17th September 2026: A high-level review meeting was held under the chairmanship of Pune district collector Jitendra Dudi to find long-term solutions to road development, traffic congestion, land acquisition and infrastructure-related issues in Hinjewadi, Maan and Marunji areas.

Dudi directed officials to expedite the necessary procedures for road development and start the actual construction work from December 1.

The meeting was held at the district collectorate and attended by MLA Shankar Mandekar, Pune Metropolitan Region Development Authority (PMRDA) metropolitan commissioner Dr Abhijit Choudhary, resident deputy collector Jyoti Kadam and officials from various departments.

Six major roads have been identified to ease traffic congestion in the Hinjewadi IT corridor. The process of appointing consultants for land acquisition, road planning and the tender process is in its final stage.

The administration will guide farmers and landowners on how they can secure maximum benefits for the land acquired for the road projects. Officials said the tender process would be initiated immediately after obtaining consent and advance possession of around 60-70% of the required land from the concerned farmers and landowners.

The administration has set a target of completing 60-70% of the land acquisition process by October 15 and commencing road construction from December 1. Officials were directed to ensure that the projects do not face unnecessary delays.

Village-level guidance camps will be organised for farmers and landowners in Maan, Marunji and Hinjewadi to explain the land acquisition process, transferable development rights (TDR) policy, rules governing residential use within a two-km radius and the benefits available to those giving up their land.

Officials have been instructed to interact directly with residents during these camps and address their queries.

Apart from the six major roads, the administration will examine the feasibility of two additional alternative routes based on demands from local representatives and residents.

Officials will conduct site inspections of roads near Wipro Chowk, the Punawale-Marunji connecting road and roads along the canal before taking a decision.

A proposal on using land along the canal or land under the irrigation department for road development is planned to be prepared by *September 30* and sent to the concerned canal board for approval. Officials have been directed to obtain the necessary permission in the first week of October and proceed with further work.

River pollution and sewage management in the Hinjewadi area were also reviewed. Builders and IT companies were directed to ensure that sewage is properly treated and does not enter the river.

Officials said PMRDA had initiated the tender process for setting up sewage treatment facilities in some major villages. The Maharashtra Pollution Control Board (MPCB) will take action against industrial and residential projects violating pollution-control norms.

Measures to address traffic congestion at major junctions and roads, including Bhumkar Chowk and Ravet, were also discussed. Road widening, pothole repairs and removal of traffic obstructions will be prioritised.

Officials will coordinate with traffic police to open necessary routes for light vehicles and take up asphalt resurfacing works on an urgent basis.

The meeting also discussed water supply-related issues between the Pimpri Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) and PMRDA, as well as compensation for land required for road widening.

Dudi directed the concerned departments to coordinate with each other and resolve pending issues to accelerate infrastructure development.

PMRDA metropolitan commissioner Dr Abhijit Choudhary briefed the meeting about various development works being undertaken by the authority. He said work was being expedited and priority was being given to completing road development, traffic management and other essential infrastructure projects within the stipulated timelines.

Officials from various agencies and residents from Hinjewadi, Maan and Marunji were present at the meeting.
