Pune: Soham Dusane Secures International Rank 1 in SOF International Mathematics Olympiad

Pune, 21st March 2025: Soham P. Dusane, a Class 9 student from St. Arnold’s Central School, Pune, has achieved the prestigious International Rank 1 in the 2nd Level of the Science Olympiad Foundation (SOF) International Mathematics Olympiad (IMO) for the 2024-25 academic year.
Dusane scored a perfect 60 out of 60 in the competition, sharing the top rank with three other students globally. As part of his achievement, he has been awarded Rs. 12,500, an International Gold Medal, and a Certificate of Outstanding Performance.
In addition to securing the top international rank, Dusane also earned the Zonal Rank 1. However, no additional zonal or school-level awards were conferred in this case.
While speaking to Punekar News, Soham credited his success to the guidance and mentorship from Prime Academy teachers. “Guidance and mentorship from Prime Academy teachers made me achieve this. I am very thankful to my teachers for their exceptional teaching. My main focus is JEE,” Soham said.
Soham’s mother shared insights into his dedication, stating, “Soham is very focused on his JEE goal. He always prepares on his own for studies and is always ready to participate in competitive exams. His teachers are very supportive of him.”
Lalit Kumar, an IIT Bombay alumnus and Founder of Prime Academy Pune, praised Soham’s approach to learning. “Soham actively participates in lectures, asks questions fearlessly, and engages with every concept deeply. His curiosity and confidence are marks of a truly good student.” Kumar emphasized the importance of building a strong foundation in core subjects like Trigonometry, Algebra, and Laws of Motion during classes 8–10 to excel in future competitive exams like JEE and NEET.
The SOF Olympiads are known for identifying and nurturing young talent in subjects like mathematics, science, and English. The Level 1 IMO exams took place on October 22, November 19, and December 12, 2024, with top-performing students advancing to the Level 2 stage. The results were declared in March 2025 and can be accessed online at sofworld.org.
All awards will be dispatched to respective schools by July 2025.
