Velhe, 17th March 2021: Balu Laxman Sangale has become a star on social media. Not that he won any medal or fought against any enemy. He brought his mother on his shoulder by walking a distance of about 12 kilometres from the hospital.

Lilabai Sangale (65) was ailing and was admitted to a hospital in the Raigad district. A native of Chandar, the remotest village in Velhe taluka of Pune district, Balu had admitted his mother to a hospital at Mahad since his village does not have a medical facility.

However, the health of Lilabai deteriorated and she wished to go home instead of dying in the hospital. Thus, after feeling a little better, they got her discharged from the hospital and reached Panegaon by a private vehicle. From here, they had to walk down since there is no transport available to reach Chandar village.
So Balu and his uncle made a make-shift palanquin and brought Lilabai home on foot.

After the video become viral, people have started raising questions over the government apathy. They have also questioned the role of the local politicians and administration for the poor state of affairs in such villages even after gaining independence.
