Pune: Special cover of Sadguru Shankar Maharaj Published by Department of Posts
Dhankawadi, 29th April 2023: On the occasion of the 76th Samadhi Celebrations of Shri Sadguru Shankar Maharaj, a special cover (postal envelope) with the picture of Sadguru Shankar Maharaj was formally issued by the Department of Posts, Government of India on 28th April, Vaishakh Shuddha Ashtami which was the date of Samadhi.
The envelope has a beautiful image of Maharaj and around it is a picture of a banyan tree and the symbols of Trishul, Shankh, Kamal, Belpatra, Kamandalu, Mala, Gada and Chakra which were associated with Maharaj.
Also, on this special day, a cancellation cachet was also published along with black and white pictures of Shri Shankar Maharaj and Bhagwa Dhwaj (Saffron flag) Significantly, the date of the maharaja’s samadhi was officially disclosed for the first time in a government document on the occasion. On this occasion, an information sheet on the life of Maharaj was also unveiled by Srinivas Patil. The said magazine was compiled by the trustees of the trust. The release of a special Postal cover of Shri Sadguru Shankar Maharaj was conceptualised by Environmental scientist, Dr. Sachin Punekar.
Senior leader and former MLA Ulhas Pawar, MLA Bhimrao Tapkir, Madhuritai Misal, Sunil Kamble, Trustee Surendra Waikar, Satish Kokate, P. D. Patil, Rajabhau Suryavanshi, Dr. Mihir Kulkarni, Nilesh Malpani, Pratap Bhosale and Dr Sachin Punekar were present in the programme.
