Narhe, 20th January 2023: A dumper hit a two-wheeler at Bhumkar Chowk on Navale Bridge in Pune. The two-wheeler rider died on the spot.

The name of the deceased youth is Nikhil Govind Rathod. The driver of the dumper is absconding, and police are searching for him.

According to the information given by the police, an Ashok Leyland dumper was plying in front of Gradup Society on the service road leading from Bhumkar Bridge to the highway. Police have said that the accident happened due to the dumper driver who was going at a high speed and lost control.

The season of accidents at Navale Bridge and Bhumkar Chowk is not ending. A few months ago, after as many as 32 cars collided with each other on Navale Bridge, it seems like a series of accidents has started. In a week, 15 to 20 accidents, both minor and major, have occurred consecutively at Navale Bridge and Bhumkar Chowk. After this, the administration completed the incomplete work in many places.

However, the road works at some distance from Bhumkar Chowk are still pending. There is no bifurcation between the service road and the connecting point of the main highway. Due to road repair work on the highway, the drivers are tired of the traffic and hence drive fast.

In addition, today, while travelling on the main highway, a bike rider suddenly came in the middle of a speeding dumper and was hit by the dumper as the dumper lost control and ran over him. In this horrific accident, the bike rider died on the spot.
