Pune: Speeding Four-Wheeler Strikes Traffic Police Officer in Dighi, Causes Severe Injuries
Dighi, 9th April 2024: A traffic officer, diligently managing the flow of vehicles, suffered severe injuries when struck by a speeding four-wheeler. The incident occurred at Charholi on Monday morning (8th April) around 11:45 am.
Identified as Rahul Mote, aged 30, the injured officer belongs to the Dighi Traffic Branch. The driver of the vehicle involved, Prashant Kadam, aged 20, has been apprehended.
According to police reports, Mote was part of a team regulating traffic along the road from Charholi to Ajeenkya DY Patil University, comprising a police sub-inspector and three constables. At approximately 11:45 am, a four-wheeler approached from Charholi at high speed, its windows tinted. The police signalled for the vehicle to halt, but the driver chose to accelerate instead.
In an attempt to intervene, Officer Rahul Mote stepped forward to warn the driver. The driver collided with Mote, inflicting severe injuries. Currently, Mote is receiving treatment at a hospital in Pune.
