Viman Nagar, 22nd February 2026: Some stories move you. Others linger on your palate long after the first taste. The journey of Dohiti Bake House belongs to the latter — a story shaped by emotion, memory, and the quiet magic of baking.

Founded in June 2021 by Geeta Pathak, the bakery began as what she once imagined would be a gentle “retirement plan,” a space where she could simply express her love for croissants and bread. Life, however, had something far more extraordinary in store.

A trained nutritionist, Geeta grew up in an environment where food was never merely about nourishment. It was the emotional centre of daily life — thoughtful meals, intentional cooking, and traditions passed down with care. That upbringing shaped her philosophy: food should comfort, connect, and tell a story.

The name “Dohiti,” meaning granddaughter (Daughter’s daughter), is itself a tribute to that philosophy. For Geeta, it reflects the tender bond between a grandmother and her grandchild. She often says she cooks with the heart of a granddaughter, and that sentiment lives in every recipe. The bakery’s offerings carry the warmth of a grandmother’s kitchen — gentle, nostalgic, and deeply personal.

The idea took root in 2017 during a backpacking trip across Europe. There she encountered breads and pastries unlike anything she had tasted before. The experience sparked a curiosity that soon turned into a calling.

Baking, she believes, is unique among culinary arts because it is alive. As she describes it, it is one of the few cooking processes where food “grows,” expanding through the quiet collaboration of yeast and bacteria.

Originally, Dohiti was meant to open in Bengaluru, but the pandemic altered those plans. Since Geeta was already living in Viman Nagar, she decided to begin there instead. Some advised her against choosing that location, yet she trusted her instincts and her team — a decision she now calls the best she ever made. What touched her most was the response from customers, many of whom supported the bakery during its early struggles and stood by it beyond a simple buyer–seller relationship. She credits much of Dohiti’s success to that loyalty and affection.

As the bakery approaches its sixth year, new developments are on the horizon. New packaging updates and an expanded menu are being considered, with the team actively gathering customer feedback to guide the next phase.

Yet even as it grows, Dohiti Bake House remains true to its essence — a place where food is served not just fresh, but with warmth, memory, and love, proving that sometimes the simplest loaf can carry the richest story.
