Pune, 13th March 2026: The Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU) organised an awareness programme highlighting higher education and research opportunities in Germany, aimed at guiding students and faculty members about international academic pathways and scholarship options.

The session, titled “Study & Research in Germany,” was organised on March 12 by the university’s Department of Education and Extension in collaboration with the German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) Information Centre Pune. The initiative focused on introducing participants to the German higher education system and various opportunities available for international students.

During the programme, representatives from DAAD, Dhanashree and Girija, delivered detailed presentations on Germany’s higher education landscape. They explained the different types of institutions in the country, including universities, universities of applied sciences, and specialised research institutes.

The speakers also discussed opportunities available for master’s and doctoral studies, while highlighting Germany’s strong research ecosystem, advanced academic infrastructure and globally recognised education system.

Participants were guided on how to identify suitable academic programmes, prepare application documents and navigate admission procedures through official application platforms.

A key part of the session focused on scholarships and financial assistance available to international students. The presenters provided information on funding schemes offered by DAAD and other German institutions, including eligibility requirements and application timelines.

They also emphasised the importance of building a strong academic profile through research proposals, academic achievements and language proficiency.

The programme concluded with an interactive question-and-answer session, where students and faculty members raised queries regarding admission processes, language requirements, living expenses in Germany, visa procedures and career prospects after completing higher education abroad.

The event was attended by Ravindra Shinganapurkar and Vilas Adhav, and was organised under the guidance of Geeta Shinde.

Organisers said the session helped participants gain a better understanding of international study opportunities and encouraged them to explore Germany as a destination for higher education and collaborative research. The department also expressed gratitude to the DAAD representatives, invited guests, faculty members and students for their participation in the programme.
