Pune: Standard 7 girl raped by Class 8 boy, detained by police

Mundhwa, 30th March 2023: A 17-year-old boy has been detained by Mundhwa police for raping a 14-year-old girl at her home on February 16. The girl, a seventh-grade student, confided in her school counselor on Tuesday that she had been raped by the boy and had kept quiet out of fear.

The counselor questioned the boy, who is an eighth-grade student at the same school, and he admitted to the crime. The counselor then reported the incident to the police.

The accused has been shifted to a city-based observation home, and a rape case has been filed after the victim’s statement was recorded. Further investigation is ongoing.
