Manchar, 21st March 2023: Eight leopard cubs have died in the Manchar forest area of the eastern part of Ambegaon taluka in the Pune district due to starvation in the past month and a half. The high concentration of leopards in the Manchar and Shirur forest ranges has led to an ecological imbalance in the area. The post-mortem reports reveal that the cubs died due to a lack of milk, with cold weather also playing a significant role.

As a precautionary measure, forest officials have urged visitors to refrain from clicking photos or taking selfies. They have also advised villagers and sugarcane cutters to stay inside at night. The Forest Department has also taken steps to safely reunite separated cubs with their mothers.

Former Home Minister Dilip Valse Patil expressed concern about the increasing number of leopards and attacks on humans and suggested that the Forest Department take immediate measures in this regard.
