Pune: State Govt To Review Termination Of 603 PMC Employees Over Bogus Recruitment Allegations

Pune 19th Sept 2023: The Government of Maharashtra has constituted a committee to review the decision to terminate the 603 employees of the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC) from service following allegations of bogus recruitment. The employees were working with gram panchayats before they were merged with the municipal corporation in 2021.

 

A detailed report submitted by then Zila Parishad CEO had revealed that the gram panchayats had recruited additional staff after they were made aware that the villages will be merged with the municipal corporation. It was revealed that major recruitments were carried out in the gram panchayats after a draft notification regarding merger of the villages with the municipal corporation was issued.

 

The Municipal Corporation after receiving the report of bogus recruitment had suspended 603 employees from service. However, the state government has now decided to review a decision to terminate these employees from service and a committee headed by divisional commissioner Saurabh Rao has been formed. The committee will study the matter and a decision will be taken after they submit a detailed report on it.
