Pune: Stolen Ornaments Worth Rs 30 Lakh Recovered, Thief Alongwith Two Friends Arrested

Bibvewadi, 3rd July 2022: The officials from Crime Branch Unit 1 and Bibvewadi police station have arrested a burglar who had stolen cash and ornaments worth Rs 30 lakh from a house in Bibvewadi. His accomplices who helped in the crime are also arrested.

The accused have been identified as Mushtafa alias Bona Shakil Ansari (34), Junaid Rizwan Saif (29), both residents of Kondhwa, and Haider Kallu Shaikh (31) from Latur. Ansari, who had stolen the cash and ornaments, was arrested by the Crime Branch while the other two accused were arrested by the police station team.

On June 20, Rs 1.4 lakh cash and 600 grams of gold ornaments were stolen from a locked flat in Soba Savera apartment in Bibvewadi.

In a press conference today at Bibvewadi police station, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) Namrata Patil said, “With the help of CCTV footage and inquiries with the society members, crime branch and police station’s detection branch team arrested Ansari and his two friends (Junaid and Haider). Ansari has many cases of burglary registered against him before 2019. During investigation, we came to know that Junaid and Haider helped Ansari to steal and hide the jewelleries. Therefore, they were also arrested. We have recovered the stolen ornaments.”

The investigation was carried out under the guidance of Additional Commissioner of Police (East region) Namdev Chavan, DCP Namrata Patil and ACP Rajendra Galande. The team included Senior Police Inspector Vilas Sonde, Police Inspector (Crime) Anita Hivarkar, Assistant Police Inspector Pravin Kalukhe and police personnel Santosh Jadhav, Satish More, Shrikant Kulkarni, Atul Mahangade, Shivaji Yewle, Tanaji Sagar and Rahul Shelar.
