Pune: Stolen Valuables Worth Rs 1.13 Crore Recovered From Jija-Saali Gang Who Targeted Homes At Night
Pune, 11th November 2022: High-profile Jija-Sali, who burglarized houses with the pretext of recce, were caught by the police. Both ran away, stealing diamonds, gold and silver ornaments from the house that had been brought out for Lakshmi Puja.
As much as Rs 1,13,37,000 worth of stolen goods has been seized from them. The police said that the accused are highly educated and wealthy and have many properties and farmhouses in some cities of the state, including Nashik, Wakad, and Shirdi.
The arrested are identified as Raju Duryodhan Kalmedh (45) and Sonia Sriram Patil (32), both residents of Vadgaon Budruk. Both are in-laws. Kalmedh is a hotelier, and Sonia is his sister-in-law. Kalamedh has studied up to the eighth grade.

Both have committed the crime of burglary by collusion. Nine screwdrivers have been found in the luxury car they used. Possibly, more crimes will be revealed by them. Kalmedh is a criminal on record and has been booked for various crimes in the state and outside.
The incident took place on October 27 in a bungalow, located in the Nataraj Society area in Karvenagar. Kalmedh and his sister-in-law were doing recce during the day and stealing at night. Seeing that there was no one there, they used to come on a two-wheeler at night. However, they were using an expensive four-wheer vehicle to do recce during the day to diminish suspicion. To catch them, the police checked the CCTV cameras in the area for seven days and nights.
Under the guidance of Senior Inspector Rajendra Sahane of Alankar Police Station, the team started searching for the accused. After examining the CCTV footage of the Karvenagar area, the suspect was traced. Meanwhile, Police Naik Sagar Kekan, Dheeraj Pawar, and Nitin Raut got the information that the suspected accused was in the Sinhagad road area.
Kalmedh was arrested after setting a trap. Sonia, who was preparing to flee to Mumbai, was detained under the bridge. All stolen items have been recovered from them.
Senior Police Inspector Rajendra Sahane, Police Inspector (Crime) Sangeeta Patil, Sub-Inspectors Suryakant Saptale, Arvind Shinde, and Mahesh Nimbalkar took this action.
