Pune, 2nd April 2022: After facing the ire of the public in different parts of Pune city due to the anti-encroachment drive by the Pune Municipal Corporation (PMC), Ikram Khan who is the national vice chairman of NCP’s minority department, has sought the intervention of the party supremo Sharad Pawar to stop the demolition drives.

“I would hereby like to inform you about the current situation regarding the harsh actions being taken against the encroachment activity being conducted in Pune Municipal Corporation limits by the encroachment department. As we are nearing the festive period of Ramzan, many roadside food stalls and other stalls are being hosted by the common public. The street hawkers, small stall owners and small hoteliers are under high pressure due to this.

If we do not take them into account, they will have to face hardship and unbearable losses. Already they had to face a difficult time due to COVID-19 and they have not recovered from it until now and they are facing acute financial difficulties. Moreover, if we look at the other aspects of this, it is not good for the party as this will defame the ruling party administration in various parts of Pune City”, Khan stated in his letter to Pawar.

A copy of the letter has been also sent to Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, NCP Minority wing president Shabbir Vidrohi, NCP Maharashtra state president Jayant Patil and MP Supriya Sule.
