Kondhwa, 9th May 2025: A young woman has been arrested by Kondhwa Police in Pune for allegedly sharing an Instagram story containing screenshots of tweets by Pakistani nationals, including one that said “Pakistan Zindabad” and another referring to “Hindutva extremism.” The posts came in the aftermath of India’s retaliation against Pakistan following the massacre of 26 Indian tourists in Pahalgam.

The woman, identified as Khadija Shahabuddin Sheikh, is a resident of Kausarbag in Kondhwa and second year IT engineering student at Sinhgad Academy of Engineering, Kondhwa Budruk. She was taken into custody after a case was registered against her under the Bharatiya Nyay Sanhita (BNS). Meanwhile, the college has rusticated her.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Zone 5) Rajkumar Shinde confirmed the arrest. “She has been booked under sections 152, 196, 197, 299, 352, and 353 of the BNS based on a complaint from a policeman. Further investigation is underway,” he said.

While police have not disclosed the exact intent behind her Instagram story, officials suggest that the content could have incited unrest or disrupted public order, especially in the current charged atmosphere following the cross-border violence. Now, her Instagram account has been deleted.

Further details are awaited as the investigation continues.
