Pune, 23rd September 2025: The birth anniversary of Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil was celebrated with fervor at Potdar Sankula, Savitribai Phule Pune University (SPPU), under the aegis of the Student Development Board’s Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil Earn and Learn Scheme. The memorial service brought together students, educators, and dignitaries to honor the life and legacy of the social reformer.

Chief guests at the event include Bhagyashree Manthalkar, member of the Management Council, Prof. Dr. Vilas Adhav, Head and Director of the Department of Lifelong Learning and Extension, SPPU, Krishna Bhandalkar, Senate member, and Dr. Ashish Sangle. A large number of students also participated in the program.

Speakers at the event highlighted the challenges Bhaurao Patil overcame and the principles that guided his life. “He taught me how to live life without compromising on principles. You give me rocky land, I will make it fertile,” shared one of the speakers, reflecting the enduring influence of Bhaurao’s ideology.

The memorial underscored Bhaurao’s visionary contributions, including his concepts of corporate social responsibility, the Ek Mushti Yojana, and self-reliant education, which sparked social change in rural areas. “These Karma Yogis, who built hostels using tenant contributions or raised funds for education by even selling their wives’ mangalsutras, lighting one lamp from another, truly embodied the ideals of the Republic,” noted the dignitaries.

The event also explored Bhaurao Patil’s alignment with Shahu-Phule’s ideas and his lifelong commitment to education. Speakers emphasized the importance of giving one’s best in every endeavor, acquiring diverse skills, and ultimately contributing to society—values that form the core teachings of Karmaveer Bhaurao Patil.

The gathering concluded with the release of Bhaurao Patil’s biography for the new generation, reinforcing the idea that his life and principles are to be experienced, not just read. “Karmaveer is more to be experienced than read,” summarized the organizers, leaving attendees inspired by his enduring legacy.
