One accused involved in the case is a student. Kothrud police station has registered a case against these three.

Ayan Chatterjee, a final year student of BBA at a reputed college won the trust of his classmate Kunal Jindal by saying his brother Amber Chatterjee was well acquainted with the head of the MBA department at a reputed college. Kunal and some of his friends were told Ayan and Amber would get them MBA admission at reputed college from the management quota.

Kunal and his friends received fake emails with the college name and links. On assuring them they had got admission for MBA, Ayan, Amber and their mother Arti asked Kunal and his friends to deposit Rs 65,69,000 to the bank account. And also sent them the fake acknowledgement and admission confirmation letter.

When the student inquired at the concerned college, they realised that they had been cheated. They went to the house of Chatterjee at Ravet and demanded money.
