Two Friends Started Unacademy 5 years Ago, Now Its Worth Rs 11,000 Crores

Jaipur, September 7, 2020: Two friends Gaurav Munjal and Roman Saini’s passion to forge the lives of others made start Unacademy, for online coaching five years ago. As of today, the Unacademy is ranked number sixth in the world on the online education platform. The company’s current valuation is Rs 11,000 crores ($ 1.45 billion).

Munjal, a BTech in computer engineering graduate, left his high paying job to start the company. Saini resigned 6 months after being selected for the Indian Administrative Service (IAS).

Munjal had started a YouTube channel. Then asked his friend Saini to come along in 2015 to pursue it further. Now Unacademy has over 3.5 lakh subscribers and it is the most searched on YouTube and among apps. A total of 18,000 educators teach for 35 competitive exams. Unacademy has acquired companies like Wifi, Prep Ladder, Code Chef, Mastery. Not only this but companies like Soft Bank, Sikova, Facebook, General Atlanta etc. have also invested in the Unacademy. Now Unacademy is also the official partner of IPL.
