Pune: Sumar, Bhutada win titles at MSLTA PMDTA AITA Championship series U-18 Tennis Tournament

Pune, 20th May 2022: Omar Sumar and Sejal Bhutada won the singles title in the boys’ and the girls’ event at the PMDTA Organised MSLTA- AITA Championship series Under 18 Tennis Tournament Being played in at MSLTA School of Tennis, Shiv Chattrapati Mhalunge Balwadi Sports Complex.

Sarth Bansode and Siddharth Marathe lifted the boys’ doubles title while Prisha Shinde and Vaishnavi Chauhan claimed the girls’ doubles title.

A 12th standard Commerce student of NIOS fifth-seeded Omar who moved from Mumbai to Pune came back from the loss of the first set to Stop the winning run of giant-killer Sarth Bansode winning 3-6, 6-3, 6-2 to claim the crown

In the girls’ finals 9th standard student of Ramnagar Bharat Vidyalay seventh-seeded Sejal Bhutada registered a 7-5,6-2 win over eighth-seeded Danica Fernando to claim the title

It was Bhutada’s the second title in a row as she had won a U-16 CS Singles title which was held at Hyderabad last week.

In the Doubles Sarth Bansode partnering Siddharth Marathe were leading 6-3 as their opponents Sahil Tambat and Arnav Kokane conceded the match; Prisha Shinde and Vaishnavi Chauhan denied Bhutada a double crown as they edged out Her and Abhilipsa Mallick 6-4, 3-6, 10-8 for the title

The prizes were given away at the hands of Sandeep Nulkar, tournament director and Pranav Waghmare, MSLTA Supervisor.

Girls: Prisha Shinde/Vaishnavi Chauhan bt Sejal Bhutada/Abhilipsa Mallick[4] 6-4, 3-6, 10-8.
