Pune/Mumbai, 30th March 2024: In a significant development for the upcoming Lok Sabha elections, the Nationalist Congress Party (NCP) has officially announced Sunetra Ajit Pawar as its candidate for the Baramati Lok Sabha Constituency. The announcement was made by state president MP Sunil Tatkare during a press conference held today in Mumbai.

Sunetra Ajit Pawar’s nomination marks a strategic move by the NCP as they prepare for the electoral battle in Baramati where rival Supriya Sule, daughter of Sharad Pawar, is the incumbent MP.

“With a strong political background and experience, Sunetra Ajit Pawar is expected to bring a formidable challenge to the opposition candidates in the constituency”, Tatkare said.

This announcement comes in the wake of earlier declarations by Ajit Pawar, who had already announced Sunil Tatkare as the candidate from the Raigad Constituency and Shivajirao Athar Rao Patil from the Shirur Constituency as part of the Mahayuti alliance.

Moreover, as part of the nomination process, Tatkare also nominated Mahadev Jankar of Rashtriya Samaj Paksha (RSP) in the Parbhani Constituency, from its quota in the Mahayuti comprising BJP, Shiv Sena and others. Jankar, who had earlier contested from Baramati in 2014, is expected to bring electoral benefits to Sunetra Pawar.
