Pune, 12th March 2025: Dattatray Gade, the accused in the Swargate Bus Depot Rape Case, has been sent to Yerawada Central Jail following Pune Court’s order earlier today. Gade was remanded to judicial custody for 14 days after completing his police custody. The court directed his transfer to the prison while investigations into the incident continue.

Gade allegedly raped a 26-year-old woman inside a stationary Shivshahi bus at Pune’s Swargate Bus Depot on 25th February. Gade, posing as a bus conductor, reportedly lured the victim into the empty bus under false pretenses and assaulted her before fleeing the scene. He was arrested three days later in his native Gunat village, Shirur taluka, after an extensive manhunt involving drones and sniffer dogs.

Police suspect Gade may have committed similar offenses in the past, as he has a history of criminal cases, including theft and robbery. Authorities are urging anyone with complaints against him to come forward. The investigation team is also analyzing technical evidence, including his mobile records, to uncover additional details about his movements and potential accomplices.
