Pune: Symbiosis School Students Study Tour to Japan

Pune, 28th November 2024: A group of 26 students of 8th and 9th standard from Symbiosis Schools in Pune and Nashik went for an educational tour to Japan. Accompanied by Dr. Gargee Mitra, Head of Symbiosis Schools Central Directorate and Mrs. Kshipra Potdar students had the unique opportunity to experience Japan’s rich cultural heritage while exploring its education system, technological advancements, and sustainable practices.
Students visited schools in Tokyo and Takasaki, observing their disciplined academic routines and collaborative practices. These visits emphasized the values of respect, responsibility, and teamwork. Cross-cultural exchange sessions allowed the students to engage directly with their Japanese peers, sharing experiences and fostering friendships.
A lecture on Society 5.0 introduced students to Japan’s forward-thinking approach to integrating technology with sustainability and human-centered innovation. The students engaged in discussions on environmental challenges faced by both India and Japan. They exchanged ideas showcasing the best platform of teamwork and collaboration.
Beyond the classroom, the students participated in various cultural activities, providing them with a deeper connection to Japan’s traditional arts. Along with sightseeing, they visited the world famous Tomioka Silk Mill, a UNESCO World Heritage site, where the students learned about Japan’s silk industry and its historical significance to the country’s industrialization in the late 19th century.
The educational tour to Japan was an enlightening and transformative experience for the Symbiosis students, combining cultural exchange, academic exploration, and personal growth. By embracing both the ancient traditions and modern innovations of Japan, the students returned with a broadened perspective, a deeper appreciation for cross-cultural connections, and a renewed sense of global citizenship.
