Pune: SYMHEALTH 2023 Focuses on Healthcare Perspectives, Nutrition, and Regulations

Pune, 25th April 2023: Every year, the Faculty of Medical & Health Sciences at Symbiosis International University holds a healthcare conference. This year, the 25th edition of SYMHEALTH will take place on April 28th and 29th, 2023, at the SIU campus in Lavale, Pune.

 Dr. Rajiv Yervadekar, Provost, Faculty of Medical and Health Sciences, Symbiosis International (Deemed University), elaborated on “SYMHEALTH 2023” in a Press Conference held today at Patrakar Bhavan, Navi Peth, Pune.

The theme of the conference is Stakeholder Engagement for Integrated Healthcare – Futuristic Approach. The event will be inaugurated on Friday, April 28th, 2023, by Mr. Siddhartha Bhattacharya, Country Director, Access Health International, and President, NATHEALTH. The Valedictory function will be held on April 29th, 2023. The Chief Guest will be Dr. Mansukh Mandaviya, Hon. Minister of Health and Family Welfare and Chemicals and Fertilizers of India, GoI, while the Guest of Honor will be Dr. Dilip Mhaisekar, Director, DMER, Government of Maharashtra.

Other dignitaries who will share their perspectives on the growth and future of the healthcare industry include Dr. Suresh Bada Math, Director of Digital Psychiatry, NIMHANS; Dr. Shweta Khandelwal, Additional Professor & Head of Nutrition Research, PHFI; Mr. Tapan Singhel, Managing Director & CEO, Bajaj Allianz; and a multitude of other eminent speakers who will talk about hospitals, mental health, insurance, research, clinical trials, and more.

SYMHEALTH 2023 is a multi-stakeholder and interdisciplinary approach to forge new dialogues with various stakeholders in the healthcare community and beyond. It aims to bring new insights and perspectives from all fields of mainstream as well as allied healthcare to improve the availability, accessibility, affordability, and quality of healthcare, in this very well connected and knowledgeable world.

At SYMHEALTH 2023, we are trying to address and bring together all stakeholders in the healthcare field because the way forward demands we work as cohesive units and not in silos.

The topics of discussion vary from creating sustainable hospitals to evidence in clinical trials.

The digital world and Mental Health are literally moving hand in hand, with the use of Artificial Intelligence in the healthcare sector transforming the medical field and making the healthcare sector efficient. Dr Prof Suresh Bada Math, Director of Digital Psychiatry, NIMHANS, will speak about the government initiatives and mental health and the digital world.

Forging, scaling and assessment of outcomes in healthcare collaborations and how this can help address public health challenges while also addressing wider public service partnerships, and community coalitions of diverse stakeholders, will be discussed by Dr Lalit Mistry, Partner and Co-Head, Healthcare Sector, KPMG. Understanding the workforce, skill mix and skill gap related leadership issues. Strategies to complement and bridge the Healthcare Workforce Gaps and familiarising ourselves with talent management strategies and initiatives is a key discussion with Dr Sanjeev Singh, Medical Superintendent at Amrita School of Medicine. Dr Mudit Dandavate, COO & Founder, Dozee will talk about Opportunities and innovations in healthcare through start ups and Government aid and schemes for start-ups. Understanding the Quality Assurance Framework in Hospitals and key strategies for attaining Organizational Excellence will be addressed by Dr Lallu Joseph, Quality Manager and Associate General Superintendent, Christian Medical College. Covering a key topic like Biomedical Engineering Research, Innovation & Opportunities and the engagement of participants in newer & futuristic medical technologies will be Dr Darshan Shah, Department of Mechanical Engineering, IIT Mumbai. The need for wider use of technologies leading to better patient outcomes & safety. While also addressing career advancements in entrepreneurship, medical equipment industries & research through the usage of technology. The key component in the healthcare industry is the finance and the subscription model of Health-Tech companies. What role is played by Fintech companies in the Healthcare System of India and integrated payment systems, this will be addressed in detail by Mr Gaurav Gupta of Navia Life Care. Dr Vivek Singh, Health Specialist at UNICEF will talk about Health Sector Reforms and SDGs where Health sector reform (HSR) deals with equity, efficiency, quality, financing, and sustainability in the provision of health care while Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) consist of goals and targets in order to eradicate poverty and realise a sustainable world. Dr. Sanjay Gupte, Founder, Gupte Hospitals Pune & Medico legal expert will give his expert opinion and understanding of Legislative Reforms in Healthcare.

Furthermore, there are 3 tracks that will be conducted simultaneously on perspectives of healthcare to nutrition and regulations that govern the healthcare industry.

Track- I is focused on the broad perspectives of healthcare from hospitals and insurance to systems and medical tourism.

– Safe and Sustainable Hospitals with key takeaways like: Challenges in building and maintaining Safe and Sustainable hospitals. Technological knowledge and insights about green buildings and its overall impact on nature and people.

– Medical Value Travel : Opportunities for India and success stories from popular destinations such as Canada, Singapore etc. The role of multisectoral involvement in medical value travel promotion in India.

– The importance of effective healthcare communications, processes and frameworks communications in healthcare institutions and healthcare communication improvement projects in healthcare setups

– Systems Thinking and Health System Strengthening along with applying systems thinking in health systems strengthening and what can be done to strengthen the health systems

– Changing Landscape of Health Insurance in India: The Current Trends and the impact of favourable government policies on the health insurance sector. Innovations and use of technology in health insurance. 

Track- II is all about good health through good nutrition and diet

– Nutrition & Dietetics: yesterday, today & tomorrow and Insights to the evolution of the nutrition field in India, the current scenario of nutrition research and development and emerging trends and areas in the field.

– Precision Nutrition: The Way Forward for Personalized Nutrition. What it entails and the role in in the management of chronic diseases and information on functional foods in personalized nutrition.

– Nutrition Transition and understanding the concept, patterns, influence of the food environment on nutrition and health. 

– Millet based approach for ensuring food security and why it is the year of the millet. Relevance of millet in sustainable diets and food security of households

– Food and Mood and how the diet affects the mood and insights on gut-mind and diet-mind interactions.

Track- III will focus on the regulatory landscapes that govern the healthcare sector along with the trends in clinical trials today.

– Regulatory Landscape of Pharmaceutical Industry and understanding various regulatory agency interactions of Pharmaceutical industry. The speakers will discuss how future legislation will change this industry and current legislation will continue to shape the landscape in future planning.

– Emerging Trends in Clinical Trials : The challenges the Pharma industry is facing with clinical trials and market collaborations for virtual clinical trials. And finally the Impact of technology in clinical trial management  

– Good practices in clinical trials and what it means along with a bird’s eye view of the Indian version of Good Clinical Practices (GCP) guidelines. And the key compliances as per Good Clinical Practices (GCP) guidelines during the conduct of clinical trials.

– Leveraging technology for Pharmacovigilance and the role of technology in Real world evidence management. To also understand regulators requirements and acceptance for the technology and the benefits of emerging technologies (such as AI) in pharmacovigilance 

– Role of Real world evidence in clinical trials and emerging Data collection strategy for RWE studies. Technology in real-world evidence data collection and its limitations

Around 1000 to 1200 healthcare professionals from diverse verticals of the healthcare sector including Hospital & Healthcare Management professionals, Medico Legal consultants, Medical technologists and paramedics, Clinical research professionals, therapists (Physio/Occupational/Behavior), pharmacists, representatives of civil society and regulatory bodies are participating in the two-day event.
