IPL 2023: Gujarat Defeats Mumbai By 55 Runs; GT’s Fifth Consecutive Win Of This Season
Ahmedabad, 25th April 2023: In the 35th match of the season at the Narendra Modi Stadium, Gujarat Titans (GT) defeated Mumbai Indians (MI) to earn their fifth victory in IPL 2023.
Chasing Gujarat’s target of 208 for victory, Mumbai could only manage 152 for nine wickets in 20 overs. Mumbai lost by as many as 55 runs. Gujarat’s Noor Ahmed (3 wickets) and Rashid Khan (2 wickets) bowled brilliantly. Nehal Wadhera scored the highest 40 runs for Mumbai.
Mumbai, who entered the field with a challenge of 208 runs from Gujarat, got off to a stumbling start. Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan were seen struggling in front of fast bowler Mohammed Shami’s powerful attack.
Taking advantage of this, Hardik Pandya dismissed Rohit Sharma for two runs. After Rohit’s dismissal, Ishan Kishan could not increase Mumbai’s run rate in the power play. On the other side, Green was also chained by the Gujarat bowlers.
In today’s match, Mumbai bowlers gave 77 runs in the last five overs. Due to this, once again MI needed to chase a big target of 208 runs.
Opener Shubman Gill scored a half-century of 53 runs for Gujarat. While Abhinav Manohar scored 42 runs in 21 balls, Rahul Tewatia scored 20 runs in five balls and David Miller scored 46 runs in 22 balls. Piyush Chawla took two wickets for 34 runs from Mumbai.
