Pune: Take Action Against Schools Not Allowing Students In Online Classes Over Fee Payment – PCMC Deputy Mayor Hirabai Ghule
Pimpri, 29th June 2021: Some private schools in Pimpri-Chinchwad Municipal Corporation (PCMC) are not allowing students to participate in online classes due to non-payment of fees. It is wrong to harass parents and students for fees in the COVID pandemic when many people have lost their jobs. PCMC should recommend de-recognition of such schools, demanded Deputy Mayor Hirabai alias Nani Ghule.

She has sent an email in this regard to Maharashtra school education minister Varsha Gaikwad as well as the education commissioner. She has also given a letter to PCMC Commissioner Rajesh Patil. “After the first and second waves of Covid, the third wave is now expected. So restrictions have been imposed again. The Covid pandemic has left many citizens unemployed. People are already forced to invest in better phones, laptops and the internet for online education. On the other hand, schools are charging huge fees and some are preventing students from attending online classes as their parents are not able to pay fees on time”, Ghule said.
“There are around 500 private schools in the city. Many parents are complaining about these schools demanding fees. These complaints need to be resolved by the municipal administration. The administration of a private school may not listen to what the municipal administration says and may not reduce fees. So, the municipal administration should recommend the de-recognition of such private schools,” she further said.
